    Setelah menempuh lika-liku panjang di kancah olahraga bermotor selama lebih dari 20 tahun, akhirnya Ricardo Gelael mampu mewujudkan impiannya, tampil sebagai juara nasional speed rally pada 2006.

Pada awal tahun 1980-an, ia sudah mulai menggeluti olahraga keras itu, diawali dari perlombaan go-kart dan adu kecepatan di lintasan sirkuit, kemudian dengan ajeg mengikuti perlombaan reli sprint dan speed rally nasional termasuk internasional.   

Ketika memulai karirnya di arena reli, Ricardo yang akrab dipanggil Kadok, lebih kerap duduk di samping pereli (driver), yaitu selaku navigator (co-driver). Beberapa tahun ia mendampingi Chepot Hanni Wiano, termasuk pada 1987 ketika berpacu di atas Ford TX-3, ketika mereka berada di urutan ke-34 dari 44 finisher Reli Sumatera.

Pada 1988 masih bersama Chepot, mereka menggenjot MG Metro 6R4 dalam perebutan Piala Presiden menempuh rute Jakarta – Lampung – Jakarta.

Pada tahun 90-an, Ricardo beralih menjadi driver dengan mengendarai Ford Escort Cosworth (1994) bersama Adiguna Sutowo. Tahun berikutnya (1995) ia bersama Irwan Musri memacu Subaru Impreza 555 dan untuk overall tahun itu berada di posisi ke-19. Pada kejuaraan dunia WRC 1996 dari Medan – Parapat – Medan, ia didampingi Adiguna.

Ricardo yang bertengger di urutan ke-10 dari 14 pereli seeded A pada 1994 (seeded B tahun itu sebanyak 21 pereli), setelah beristirahat beberapa tahun akhirnya tampil lagi pada 2003 ketika dilangsungkan putaran pertama Gudang Garam Rally of Indonesia di perkebunan Lampung.

Pada 2004 di ajang reli dan di lintasan yang sama, Ricardo yang didampingi co-pilot Faryd Sungkar yang membawa bendera Serge-KFC Rally Team tampil lagi, tetapi masih belum beruntung.

Serge-KFC Rally Team baru mulai berkibar pada 2005, ketika Kadok bersama pendampingnya Hervian “Ian” Soejono sukses masuk lima besar peringkat reli nasional. Tahun itu ia tidak turun pada seri Reli Asia Pasifik (APRC) sebagai putaran ketiga Kejurnas di Makassar.

Puncak perjalanan Serge-KFC Rally Team tercatat dalam lembaran sejarah, ketika pada putaran akhir seri kejuaraan nasional di Bali Desember 2006 menempatkan David Maslan (driver) dan putera Ricardo, Muhamad Sean (co-pilot) tampil sebagai juara umum pertama dan internasional sedangkan Kadok/Ian tampil sebagai juara nasional 2006. 

After long time experience in automotive sport for more than 20 years, Ricardo Gelael finally brought his dream into reality, appearing as the speed rally national championship in 2006.

In early 1980s, he had started working in hard sport, beginning with go-kart racing and speed race in circuit track, then steadily following sprint rally and national rally speed including international.

When he began his career in rally arena, Ricardo who known as Kadok, seated beside the driver more often, which was as the co-driver. In several years, he accompanied Chepot Hanni Wiano, including when driving with Ford TX-3 in 1987, when they were in the 34^th position of 44 finishers in Sumatera Rally.

In 1988, Ricardo and Chepot drove MG Metro 6R4 in struggling for President Cup with the route of Jakarta – Lampung – Jakarta.

In 1990s, Ricardo turned into a driver by driving Ford Escort Cosworth (1994) with Adiguna Sutowo. In the next year (1995), he used Subaru Impreza 555 with Irwan Musri and overall for that year, he was in the 19^th position. In World Rally Championship (WRC) 1996 from Medan – Parapat – Meda, he was accompanied by Adiguna.

Ricardo who placed the 10^th position of 14 drivers seeded A in 1994 (seeded B was 21 drivers at that year), after the break for several years finally returned in 2003 when the first round of Gudang Garam Rally of Indonesia in Lampung plantation was held.

In the rally event and in the same track in 2004, Ricardo who was navigated by Faryd Sungkar who brought the flag of Serge-KFC Rally Team returned performing but still unlucky.

Serge-KFC Rally Team just fluttered in 2005, when Kadok with his co-driver Hervian “Ian” Soejono reached big five rank in national rally. In that year, he did not join Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) as third round of National Championship in Makassar.

The top of Serge-KFC Rally journey stated in history page, when in the last round of national championship series in Bali, December 2006, put David Maslen (driver) and the son of Ricardo, Muhamad Sean (co-pilot) came up as the overall and international champion. Meanwhile, Kadok/ Ian appeared as the national championship 2006.
